The main objective of the SERVISTOCK project is the development of a SOFTWARE TOOL which jointly optimizes the safety stock levels and transportation types of the whole logistics chain (Figure 1 shows a simplified example of a typical logistics or supply chain).
Evidently, supply chains involve several suppliers, producers and retailers, so that the optimization of transport types and safety stocks considering response time and maturation periods, two of the most important parameters studied in a logistics chain, as optimization objectives is an important but complex task.
