The main objective of this project is to develop a Reconfigurable Mould able to generate in real time a 3D surface in order to support the manufacturing of automotive and aerospace components in composite materials (thermoplastic).
A patented technology was developed, and the main innovation consists in using a flexible membrane to connect the pin heads of the Reconfigurable Mould. This feature, that can be used when the forces applied to the mould are relatively low, allows a reduction of the number of pins and the related actuation systems, with consequent saving in the production costs and time.
